BA (Psych) Grad Dip (Psychotherapy) MAPS
David has current capacity for new clients.
David is a registered Psychologist (since 2007) and a Member of the Australian Psychological Society. He provides psychotherapy for adults and adolescents (aged 14 years and older). He has worked with individuals across a wide range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, difficulties in relationships and at work, as well as problems with anger and stress management. He worked for ten years as a school psychologist, supporting adolescents experiencing emotional, developmental and relationship issues, and he has worked in dedicated programs for people experiencing gambling problems and as an EAP provider.
David focuses on developing a strong therapeutic relationship and working with each client to find the approach that they will best engage with, as this makes an important contribution to the effectiveness of therapy. To this end, the therapy can draw from a range of different approaches including psychodynamic psychotherapy, examining the impact of childhood attachments and experiences on current behaviors and relationships; psycho-education; cognitive behavior therapy, exploring maladaptive thinking patterns; relaxation strategies, and solution-focused therapy.
David works with individuals to develop their skills and strengths so they can reclaim a sense of control in the midst of their current challenges, and self-confidence to manage future ones. He supports his clients to identify patterns of thinking, behaving, and relating to others that are no longer working and replace them with more affirming ones.
David can provide services under WorkSafe Victoria and TAC.
