Jigisha is a registered social worker and psychotherapist who is passionate about supporting people to create a life worth living. Jigisha uses a person-centred approach that prioritises empathy, authenticity, and respect.
Jigisha is an experienced therapist and has specialised training and experience in private and public mental health. She has proficiency in providing therapeutic support to clients with range of issues including depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, relationship conflicts, disordered eating, and adjustment to life changes.
Her training includes several evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-based approaches, Compassion Focused Therapy and Emotion Focussed Therapy, all of which she draws upon in her practice.
Jigisha has a particular interest in trauma and believes trauma is somatic (physiological), affective (emotional), psychological and spiritual. Therapy therefore needs to address all these domains. Jigisha is passionate in working with clients experiencing personality disorders, attachment issues, poor emotional regulation, including experiences of shame/guilt and low sense of self.
Jigisha’s approach is relational, holistic, and somatic. Honesty and curiosity are the two most important facets that Jigisha draws on to create a safe, non-judgemental, and compassionate space. This promotes accessing one’s own agency that leads to greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a sense of empowerment.
Jigisha’s sense of calmness with the ability to draw on sensitive humour, allows her to foster an empathetic space while not being afraid to safely steer clients towards their goals.
